About Chef’s Treat

Last year, I made a list of women I admire. Without hesitation, I wrote four names:

Julie Child
Ina Garten
Martha Stewart
Alison Roman

Well, I thought, this is really no surprise. I’ve been cooking for years—for myself, my family, my friends, my coworkers, my neighbors, and some very lucky ex-boyfriends.

Food, good food, has always been my priority.

I cried eating a fresh mango in Thailand. I planned a 5 week trip to Italy specifically to eat (and drink wine!). I learned how to clean squid in Spain with such enthusiasm, the chef told me she’d hire me on the spot. I spent weeks perfecting a pumpkin bread recipe for a work party only to have one guy try a bite then proceed to eat the entire loaf.

And every time I stand in my kitchen, regardless of the type of day I have, I feel comfort.

Chef’s Treat is a reflection of that comfort. That wholeness and happiness I feel when creating a meal—particularly when I get to share it. Particularly when the ingredients I use are local and support the community of growers and farmers that make Bedford County bountiful and beautiful.

Chef’s Treat shares my obsession, my palate, my connection to delicious local ingredients with you.

Cheers & Love,

Emily
